Honestly, i believe that I could be apart of Congress but i do not wish to. I say this because Congress is represented as the heart of American democracy as well as the central policy making branch; knowing this i am not only burden but pressured to try to make the right choices all the time. Also, the fact that every decision i make not only affect me but everyone else around me. Oh and the fact that native Americans/Asians are underrepresented and women are even more underrepresented.:*(

Being apart of the Congress is a very big and important job in our country and it involves a lot of focus. Just by reading and knowing what Congress does daily, I don't think I can b apart of the Congress. The reason why is because first they have a very tight schedule, all day everyday their working none stop. Also because theres many decisions I have to make, not just any decision bt lifetime decision and its a 50 50 chance if i make the right choice. I also have to stay focus on making everyone happy. It's just too much work and responsibilities.!!!

After reading what members of Congress go by on a day to day basis i feel i could not be a member of congress. i just don't think I would be able to take the pressure being forced on me by other members of congress and interest groups. To also deal with their very busy schedule would eventually drive me insane. And besides does congress need more white, catholic, males? I didn't think so.

Not only would I not be able to handle the daily scheduele of a Congressman, I would also not want any part of Legislature. The $168 grand each year sounds tempting (and that's not including bribes and such), but the effort that would need to be contributed simply clashes with my work ethic. And the only parties they have in Congress are two ridiculous mascots that are always criticizing the other for being "narrow-minded" or "not seeing the larger idea."

Would I and could I be apart of Congress...my answer to this would be no. Not because im not educated enough but because it's just not of my interest. Being apart of Congress is a crucial job and with this job you hold many important decisions that can affect our country for many years to come. I will admit the benefits are wonderful which makes you think twice but the responsibilities that come along with this job are stressful! As a member of Congress you have to be willing to give up a lot of personal time, trouble and effort in getting the job done. You have a say so on what goes on in the country and that could be something major! Not to mention all the negative feedback you might get from citizens, other Congress men and other critics...just not for me!:)

I definetly could not, nor want to be a member of congress because I couldn't handle the pressure of possibly making decisions that might negatively affect many people. Even sometimes having to ignore my own beliefs, if necessary, is also very stressful. From what I've read, congress members obviously have excellent pay, yet little free time and i would not want to put that much effort and time into such a stressful job every single day.

Truthfully, if it was to do it for the work, I do not believe I could be a part of Congress, nor do I desire too. I understand that Congress makes plenty of decisions for how our country will run upon, and I don't want to be that person to make the wrong choice and have people dislike me. I'm also a big procrastionator and upon looking at their very hectic schedule, I do not wish to be a part of it, neither do I think I would be able to accomplish the many things that they have to do in one day! I understand that my ethnicity and sex is not largely represented in Congress, yet I do not think I would be a good representative. However, if it were for the money solely, I might consider it. :)

It takes a really strong willed and mined person to be apart of congress. It is stressful and you are constantly away from your family. Having to deal with your affialted party, and the threat of your seat or chair being taken from you. Most members of congress don’t even stay in office long enough to see their policy’s become law. Being a congressman or woman you have to be involved with congressional advertising, and credit clamming, which to me would seam very long and tedious.ok to finally answer the question, NO!!!!!! I WOULDNT want to be a member in congress.

I could absolutely be a part of congress. Congress memebers occasionally aren't uuber educated, just like I am and I have ideas of what I beleive America should be like and have no problem imposing my beliefs and trying to influence people to think like I do. I have no children to tend to at home, and would personally enjoy a busy schedule, educating children about the American government and going to meetings and hearing other people's idea proposals. I think it would be quite fun, but I would also have to get my current events straight and possibly learn ALOT more about the government in general. After all, I am still in high school...........Practice and experience should surely turn anyone who is passionate about whatever they're doing into a well-knowledged and capable representative.

In addition, being a white lady of no religious background would add to the diversity of the Congress.

I do not feel like I would be able to be apart of Congress, because of their rigid schedule and the importance of their job. Being a Congressman entails a mixture of affiliations with different groups of people that you must represent well (mainly your district). Just being in charge of major decisions is a big deal, but when it is nearly impossible to please everyone in the country is just too much pressure. Overall, I respect those who are apart of Congress and have dedicated their lives to such work, but it is not for me.

As I learned , congressman is very busy person, I could be a congressman but I would not like to, because it is very responsible job, what I would do would affect other paople, If I do one mistake I can loose my job. What is nice about this job is that you get payed good, and free tickets to anywhere. But bad thing is Im gonna be away from my family , It is better when you are close to family than far away from them. Another thing is how can I be in one time in different places, as much I know when you go to meetings they like to talk a lot about different stuff not just focusing on one subject. If they scheduled meeting for an 40 minutes it would take 70 min.

I would not be able to be a member of Congress, firstly because I would most likely not enjoy politics and the overall job of a politician, Secondly because my personal moral and ethical beliefs would outweigh and prevent "progress", and lastly the immense pressure of actually getting elected and the hectic schedule would stress me out.
In other words, I would not enjoy being in Congress enough to put up with the stress involved.

after reading i believe i do not wish to be a member of congress. they hve so much to do on a daily basis, plus whatever decision you make doesn't just affect you it affects the whole country.theres too much work and responsibility in working in congress, i don't think i could handle it!

I would never want or be responsible enough to be in Congress. They have a tedious schedule that would never fit the way I want to live. I would not be able to be an incumbent because I would never go into polotics, so I wouldn't have a good chance to get into Congress even if I ran. I also hate to sit and listen to people talk about polotics so I would probably hate being in Congress.

After reading I think I could not be a member of congress. A congressperson have too much work and responsibilities. They need to know differend fields of knowledge. Congress is not only our central policymaking branch but also our principle representative branch. The choices i make will affect everyone. Sometimes i have to ignore my own interests but people are self-interested at the same time. It's hard to balance and represent everyone's ideas. And sometimes i have to suffer the misunderstanding from other people.
Being a congressperson is also time-consuming, money-consuming and can always get into trouble. Though the congressperson get well-paid, more power, privileges and travel for free, i won't choose such a stressful job that requires so much. And Female and Asian are underrepresented groups.

If the job of being a congressman was offered to me, I would accept. This is because as rigorous as their schedule seems, I believe it would be an interesting experience to have that kind of power, and to be among so many others alike. Could I do it though; probably not. At least after the first day, after I had spent all of myself trying to play congressman. As "fun", or whatever they call it, that job could be, Id probably tire of it quickly, and could be a lot more comfortable in a lifestyle that is not that of a politicians.

I could not be apart of Congress. I would have too much responsiblity in my hands and not being able to see my family until the weekend would bother me. Plus, the whole concept that you have to pick and choose who to please. For instance, the special parties or your own party is too much power in the hands of those persons. However, the whole making 168,000 makes everything slightly better, but no I wouldn't.

Although being a US Congressman (or woman) does have its perks (168,000 a year, retirement benefits and travel allowances) I do not think I could do it. They have such a rigorous schedule that keeps them away from their families throughout the week. Also, there is a lot of pressure put on the shoulders of the congressmen. They are pressured to make the right decisions by the people they were elected by, and to vote along with their political party. Also, being a public figure, everyday life is constantly under the watchful eye of the Media.

Based on what ive learned, I could not be apart of Congress , and I do not have the desire to be apart of it. Yes, the money is good, but the busy days and constant working to please everyone seems a little difficult. The job is very stressful and pressured to use the best judgement one has. Sometimes one has to set aside their own morals to please others.

I do not think that I am fit to be a congresswoman. There is a good chance that I won't be living in the states when I grow up and from what I understand, the U.S. Congress is a fan of Americans. Aside from this I also don't see myself dedicating my life to any job. The schedule for people in congress is so arduous and I can't imagine myself being happy going to several meetings a day for long hours. Although the pay rate would make for a very comfortable living I don't see myself ever needing that much money. So combined with it being a job I wouldn't enjoy with a pay rate that doesn't fit my lifestyle, I don't thing being a member of Congress is right for me. I would also never want to have Willie Herenton as a potential co-worker. Burn.

Taking a position in the Congress would be quite rigourous for me! So, no I don't think I could apart of congress because I have a short attention spand. Their daily routine allows them to have no free time and sometimes they have to work over time.Congressmen have to interact with diffrent people and make decisions! When making decisions someone is going to always be dissatisfied. What if I were to make a decision and everyone becomes dissatisfied! I wouldn't be able to deal with the pressure!

UMMMMMM..... NOOOOOOO... Being a member of Congress would be nice, but they are always busy and sometimes have 2 or 3 things to do at one time. I mean the pay and benefits would be great, but naw, i'm cool. I mean I would be a representative of America and would be apart of some really HUGE decisions that would DRASTICALLY affect our country, and I don't think im cut out for all of that. And besides, who want to spend almost all of their free time and days helping out citizens who may not even like you?? Too much work and not enough play makes Johny a dull boy.. haha

I could never be a member of congress because the schedule is so packed! Meetings, meetings, meetings! I don't like meetings very much do to their intensely boring nature so i dont think i would be very suited for working in congress. I am also not a big fan of reading and the bills that are presented can be crazy long and intricate! Even though it would be good for me to be in congress since i am a girl, im sadly going to have to let the famele population down on this one. sorry ladies!

Being a member of congress is a huge job in this country , and it wouldnt be meant for me to do.just by knowing congress has to do makes me not want to even apply for the job. While the money might be good and alot of other benifits i still think that it wouldnt be meant for me to be an congress member.Plus they have a very tight sechduale which they have to fallow every single day of their terms. While even that they get critized by the people of america for what ever decision they end up making , and whatever decision they make affects the hole country not just themselves , and for those reasons that job isnt made for me , and be far away from that kind of a job.

I do not want to nor do I think I could be a member of Congress. Even though the salary is great, this isn't something I am quite interested in. Also, being apart of Congress takes up most of your schedule. A lot of responsiblities come with it also and I wouldn't want to make any wrong or unliked decisions. It is too much weight to be put on someone's shoulders and I just wouldn't be capable of taking on this role.

I believe i could be a congress man.I believe i possess the qualities needed to be a great congressman.I am a determined individual who is use to strict schedules.I have the bravery of making big decisions and not scared to back them up.Also with me being a black male from Hillsboro you know im good for repping my set(set being my costituents)! From the readings these characteristics are what make the congressmen of today so why couldn't i be one?!

I don't want to be a member of Congress because it is way too complicated. To be a part of the Congress, I have to learn a lot of knowledges, and it is a big pressure for me. Also, I am an Asian and I could be push aside from other members if I have a different opinion. Besides, who would like to have an Asian to be a part of the Congress in United States?

Anonymous said...

I do not believe I could nor would I ever want to be a congressman. There are really two main reasons i would not want to do this. The first reason is the rigorous schedule of a congressman. Because contrary to popular belief a congress member's schedule requires an insane amount of traveling and numerous unbearable boring meetings. The second reason is I would not want to deal with the outside pressures from my party or interest groups and other factors that influence a congress member's voting.

To be honest, I could not be a Congressman. I can't be a Congressman because I could not dedicate the time and I do not have enough commitment to be a Congressman.

Matt said...

The life of a congressmen would be a life i wish not to live. With all the problems in todays society there would be heavy stress casted upon a congressman. To make the right decisions and to stay on top of issues all with very little free time is a burden i wish not placed on me. I feel an importance in attempting to effect the government for the better, but not in the place of a congressman.

willpeebles said...

Based on the reading, no i would probably never even consider being a congressman, not to say i dont think i could do it, it just seems like way too much work without enough results. If your going to write a policy thats thousands of pages long, it seems like they are deliberately trying to make government way too ridiculously complicated.

Congress is too much of a hectic job and i dont think I would be able to handle it. You have to be at 2 places at once and the decision making part would be the hardest for me because there is so much pressure coming from everybody that i would have a meltdown. It would be hard to make everyone happy, it is basically impossible. If you make a decision not everyone would agree because there are too many people with different opinions.
